Mushroom Burger Recipe
Elevate your burger game with a savory, umami-packed mushroom burger. A combination of fresh Lion's Mane and Shiitake mushrooms adds flavor and texture that pairs perfectly with a juicy beef patty. Follow these steps for a delicious, crispy burger experience.
Ingredients:
10oz - 12oz fresh mushrooms (Any will work but a combo of lion’s mane and shiitake is our favorite)
1 medium onion, chopped
1 lb ground beef (Local if available)
1 egg
1 tbsp mushroom seasoning (or your preferred seasoning)
Salt and pepper to taste
Optional cheese (for melting on top)
Instructions:
Sauté mushrooms & onions:
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.
Chop mushrooms and onions to small bite size pieces. These will be mixed into your burger so consider what size chunks you want in the patty.
Sauté chopped mushrooms until browned and reduced in size (5-10 minutes).
Sauté onions in a separate pan until translucent (not browned). Set both aside to cool.
Prepare beef mixture:
In a bowl, combine ground beef, egg, mushroom seasoning, salt and pepper.
Add the cooled mushrooms and onions to the beef mixture and stir to combine.
Form patties:
Divide the beef mixture into 4-5 equal portions and shape into patties. Or make smaller sliders!
Cook patties:
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.
Place patties on the skillet, pressing down with a spatula.
Pro Tip: For a crispy exterior, avoid moving the patty around in the pan until you see that the edges are crisp and the bottom is cooked. This will ensure a perfect sear on your patties!
Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, until crispy and cooked through.
Add cheese (optional):
If using cheese, place a slice on top of the patties during the last minute of cooking and let it melt.
Assemble the burger:
Serve the patties on toasted buns with your favorite toppings. We like to add mustard, mayo, fresh greens and tomatoes when in season.
Enjoy your mushroom burger!
